Training & Environment
Quick overview of why GFCK:
All our puppies are:
1. hand raised in the home, with children and other dogs
2. well socialized, including the desired Puppy Culture protocols
3. microchipped
4. beginning their house training
5. beginning their crate training
6. vaccinated, dewormed, and well-cared for by a vet
6. temperament tested so we can place each dog with the right family
We use a variety of protocols and programs to assist in raising our special puppies, such as Puppy Culture and Avidog. We strive to produce well-rounded, stable, sound, healthy puppies who have been well-socialized, and had imprinting in their early life.
Our puppies experience sights, sounds, smells, sensations, and surfaces from an early age, giving them stable, solid temperaments for a lifetime of family life.
Miniature Schnauzers
WHY CHOOSE A MINIATURE SCHNAUZER?
1. Full of Personality - each is a little different, and their own dog, but all have BIG personalities
2. Low-allergen (referred to as Hypo-allergenic) - oh so important for those of us who need this quality!
3. Family-Friendly - they are great with children, as long as they have early exposure to children. Guess what? All of ours get that early exposure!
4. Intelligent - this means they learn easily. And they tend to be obedient once they understand the rules.
5. Healthy - Mini Schnauzers have relatively few health issues. Most live to quite old ages! They are very healthy dogs. Our breeding dogs do not carry known genetic markers for disease.
6. Natural watch dogs - very likely to alert you to something usual like a stranger on the property or a fire. Many are "on patrol" much of their down time to help keep their people safe!
7. Perfect size for any home!
8. Active players - LOVE to go on walks, but will gladly get their exercise by playing catch, tug, and more.
9. The best snugglers! Our dogs will take a cuddle on the couch any time.
What does a GFCK Mini do?
Whether a puppy is needed to assist a person with a developmental delay disability, an elderly or disabled person, someone with anxiety or autism, help a person with ADHD focus, or just be an amazing friend and companion, we have a dog for the job.
Our beautiful Miniature Schnauzer puppies will be suitable as watch dogs and amazing family companions. They will be temperament tested around 6 weeks old, and many receive a CAAT certification of temperament.
Some of our dogs are Service Dogs, while others are emotional support animals, and all are family companions.
Miniature Schnauzers and You - Ongoing Support from GFCK
We care about the dogs we produce. We provide some ongoing support to all of our clients, check in on our puppies after they have moved to their permanent homes, and commit to taking back any dog we have produced that needs to be rehomed in the future.
The Long Story.
Green Family Companion Kennel is a small, family dog breeder focused on quality, purebred Miniature Schnauzers in Ohio, for families and individuals seeking a puppy as a companion dog, service dog, therapy dog, or emotional support animal. Our goal is to produce beautiful, sound, therapy level quality dogs to qualified, approved applicants in Northern Ohio and the nearby areas.
We are NOT A PUPPY MILL, and take each of our dogs very seriously. Our dogs are ALL family members in our home from the time they arrive or are born.
Because we place our dogs carefully and screen potential adoptive families, we generally require approved applicants to COME TO our home to pick up their puppy. We also get to know them to help match them with the perfect puppy for their needs. This way the puppies will have the best chance of having good chemistry and a personal connection with their permanent home.
Adoption fees vary depending on the individual pup's aptitude testing, and range from $2,750 to $4,500 + tax.
All of our canines are valued FAMILY members who receive all the love and attention they deserve. Puppies daily interact with our 5 children, and as such, each puppy will be socially competent when interacting with his or her new family and friends.
Puppies are ready to go home when they are at least 8 weeks old, when they have had time to be properly socialized and interact safely with a variety of stimuli. Those 8 weeks are very important to the health and development of each puppy. They learn appropriate dog behavior from their mother and siblings, as well as begin learning how to interact with humans in the way we all want our good dogs to act.
GFCK puppies have the intelligence, temperament, personality, work ethic, and energy level to be CAAT certified therapy and service dogs. Some of our puppies go on to be certified as Therapy Dogs or Service Dogs.
Health, temperament, personality, and breed standards are factors which influence our breeding program. Each litter we produce is carefully planned with the goal of high quality, beautiful puppies with sound minds to become great family-friendly companions for our valued customers.
Whether a puppy is needed to assist a person with a developmental delay, disability, an elderly or disabled person, someone with anxiety or autism, help a person with ADHD focus, or just be an amazing friend and companion, we have a dog for the job.
People are asking, "Where can I find the best Miniature Schnauzer puppy or puppies for sale near me?" or "How do I find a reputable Miniature Schnauzer breeder?" You have found the answer. Our dogs are fed high quality food, provided with intellectual stimulation, held, played with, LOVED, from the time they are born. GFCK puppies are exposed to a large variety of stimulation to solidly use their socialization period for good. We breed ethically and care for our dogs faithfully. If you want your puppy to have a good start from their breeder, choose one of our puppies!
Every single puppy we send to a new home has been dewormed, microchipped, vet checked, and is up to date on his or her vaccinations. We do not crop ears or dock tails, as it is a cosmetic only procedure. This prevents unnecessary suffering for your new Miniature Schnauzer. We only remove REAR dew claws, when present. As of 2020 we will no longer be removing front dew claws unless there is a medical reason to do so.
Each puppy is handled daily by adults and children, to make sure these dogs have the best chance of adjusting to "pack life" with their human companions. Puppies also have a start at crate training, as we believe a puppy should be in a crate for safety when left alone.
